The car is a Toyota Yaris Hybrid automatic, which is a mix of electric and petrol.

  • I’ve never driven a car before, what can I expect on my first lesson?

If you have never driven before, we will usually start in a quiet area, and start with the basics and getting the car moving.

Provided you have made me aware in advance, and it is within my working area, I can usually accommodate. Should you request to start or finish at a different location to that already agreed, I may arrive late or need to finish early, to give me time to get to you, or to my next lesson.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) who conduct the theory and practical tests, recommend and average of 45 hours of lessons with and instructor, plus 20 hours of private practice. However, this number is an average. Everyone is different, so you may need less or you may need more. If available, private practice is recommended alongside your lessons for the best results.

I do not hire my car out soley for the purpose of the driving test if I have never seen you drive. I cannot commit to take you to your driving test until I have assessed your readiness to pass the driving test. If you have a short notice test, it is unlikely I will be able to take you, unless enough notice is given, or you are willing to reschedule your test, if you are not up to the required safe standard.
